On Wednesday March 9th, under the guidance of President Eric Lopez, the Rotary Club of West Nassau donated over $500.00 worth of books to the Sadie Curtis Primary School library. Rotary Director Delric Beneby organized the project.
During the donation, the Club recognized 50 students that were chosen from throughout different classes at the school.
The students chosen were selected from a program at the school called “The Six Pillars of Character” The six pillars are Trustworthiness, Respect, Responsibility, Fairness, Caring and Citizenship. The purpose of the program is to encourage the students to be a person of character.
The Six Pillars of Character:
Trustworthiness – Never sacrifice your honor. With honor comes trust. With trust comes lasting relationships. With lasting relationships comes success and happiness.
Respect – Treat others the way you want to be treated.
Responsibility – Dreams are what gets you started. Discipline is what keeps you going.
Fairness – Everyone who asks justice should do justice.
Caring – Do all the good you can do by all means you can. In all places you can to all the people you can. As long as ever you can.
Citizenship – Ask not what your country can do for you ask what you can do for your country.
A number of Rotarians attended the event and served lunch to the students from pre-school to grade 6 and from the special education section. The principal of the school is Ms. Audrey Farrington.
