Call it better coaching or more dedicated and determined athletes, but whatever it is when it comes to track and field, St. Augustine’s College (SAC) has the number of the other 12 schools in The Bahamas Association of Independent Secondary Schools (BAISS).
SAC has a committed group of followers made up of mostly alumni and is also referred to as the Big Red Machine. They jumped out the lead in the three day competition and led by more than 230 points going into the final day at the Thomas A. Robinson Stadium on Friday with the score 781 points and second place Queens College at 556 points.
After it was all over SAC tallied a total of 1,418 points with Queens College a distant second with 1,102 points.
While the athletes have been working hard since August, credit the Big Red Machine’s coaching staff that includes twin sisters Dianne Woodside and Dawn Johnson, Tito Moss, John Todd.
