A delegation from Bahamas Agricultural and Industrial Corporation (BAIC) along with The Bahamas Representative from the Inter-American Institute for Co-operation on Agriculture (IICA) made an official visit to Miami, Florida last week.
The Bahamas’ team was comprised of BAIC executive chairman Edison M Key, general manager Benjamin Rahming, and assistant general managers Judith Thompson (property management) and Arnold Dorsett (agriculture). Bahamas representative Dr Marikis Alvarez represented IICA.
They met with officials from the Miami office of IICA, the Malaysia Miami Trade Office, and the principal suppliers of heavy-duty farming equipment and tractors. The delegation also paid a courtesy call on The Bahamas Consulate General, Rhoda Jackson. They discussed matters relating to trade.
They also visited various tropical fruit tree nurseries and providers of appropriate equipment to facilitate selection and acquisition for The Bahamas. At IICA the delegation discussed with officials strategies for BAIC’s newly implemented Market Information System and Training Certification programs for the Food Processing Unit.
The delegation also met with the Malaysian Miami Trade Office for discussions on trade related matters and for the development of the coconut processing industry in The Bahamas.
