Well-known Bahamian photographer, Howard Livingstone Glass has died at the age of 73, after a long illness.
Mr. Glass passed away at the Princess Margaret Hospital on Sunday, April 3. He is a former employee of Bahamas Information Services where he worked as a government photographer during the l960s and l970s. Mr. Glass has also worked at the Ministry of Tourism.
To his credit, Mr. Glass was the personal photographer for the late prime minister, Sir Lynden O. Pindling’s, and has captured many historical images of Mr. Pindling and Sir Milo B. Butler, including the image of Sir Milo printed on school notebooks.
An only child, Mr. Glass was born in Jolly Hall, Exuma on August 8, 1937 and came to Nassau as a child with his mother, the late Margarita Glass Archer, and attended St. John’s College.
He is survived by his only child, Nicole Fortella of Miami, Florida and two grandchildren – Cherise Fortella and Chrisean Collins and a host of relatives including Dame Marguerite Pindling and her sister, Mrs. Priscilla Williams.
Funeral services will be announced at a later date.
