A 5-year-old girl from Canada drowned in the Bahamas after what officials have determined was an accident at the Atlantis Resort water park.
Police Chief Superintendent Emerick Seymour says the girl died Thursday, a day after the accident, but declined to identify her or to provide any details about what happened.
In August 2000, a 12-year-old boy died after he was sucked into a drain while snorkeling with his brother in the resort’s lagoon.
Atlantis is owned by Kerzner International Holdings Ltd. of the Bahamas and the company has issued a statement saying the child drowned and that it was doing “everything in our power to assist the family.”
