More murders happened in The Bahamas in March 2011 than in any other month in the country’s recorded history, according to police statistics.
A total of 16 murders were recorded last month.
According to police statistics, the highest number of murders in one single month previously stood at 12 and before that the record was 11.
In January of this year 12 murders were recorded.
March is typically one of the quieter months. April is historically one of the deadlier months.
Only December and January recorded higher numbers.
So far there have been 39 murders for the year.
