Yesterday was the official launch of Sky Bahamas’ scheduled flights to Fort Lauderdale.
Last month the airline announced that it would be offering scheduled flights with pre-clearance from Grand Bahama to Fort Lauderdale four days a week.
The addition of the flights increases the previously limited airlift options available to Grand Bahamians for their travel to the United States.
Kenneth Romer, chief operations officer for Sky Bahamas said, the company’s goals for the new venture was to provide travelers with options and increase airlift to Freeport.
Aside from a positive international response, he said, the local response to Sky Bahamas’ latest venture has been encouraging, noting that people who are loyal to the company have expressed a willingness to take connecting flights from New Providence to Grand Bahama to Fort Lauderdale.
He said the company wants to encourage Grand Bahamians with ideas to partner with it.
Sky Bahamas will be operating its new scheduled flights on Sundays, Mondays, Thursdays and Fridays.
