Amendments to the Business License Act and related bills yesterday moved a crucial step to becoming law.
Senators on Wednesday passed the proposed changes.
Moving the pieces of legislation, which included amendments to the Banks and Trust Companies Regulations, Local Government and Insurance Acts; Attorney General John Delaney stressed the government’s intention to streamline the way business is done in The Bahamas.
“These measures ensure that in the administration of the business license fees, anything that might be inconvenient would be addressed in terms of the business persons and indeed on the government’s side as the tax collector, ensuring the better administration of the Business License Act 2010,” he said.
Supporting the move, Senator Tanya Wright pointed out that while starting a business without hassle and bureaucracy may have a dream some years ago, this is now the reality.
