Bran McCartney goes on the defensive after suffering criticism for his selection of unknown and inexperienced candidates for his hastily formed party.
Mr McCartney is in the news trying to justify his selection of unknown, inexperienced and lacklustre candidates for his hastily formed DNA party.
Dismissed by most Bahamians as an ego-maniac, wannabe prime minister, McCartney defended his selections saying all his proposed candidates have “charisma”.
While that may be true, and could even help get votes for the candidates, it is not clear how important “charisma” is in a candidate’s ability to determine the best ideas and plans for the nation.
McCartney, who feels quite confident that he will be the next prime minister of the Bahamas, admitted that it was difficult to get prominent business people and community leaders to stand for office.
McCartney shrugged off criticism, telling a local paper that he picked people who can win their constituencies. However, he failed to say if the people he selected would make good leaders.
