The United Arab Emirates and the Commonwealth of the Bahamas have issued a joint statement on formal diplomatic relations between the two countries at ambassadors level in accordance with the provisions of the 1961 UN Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations.
Ambassador Ahmed Abdul Rahman Al Jarman, UAE’s permanent representative to the United Nations and Ambassador Paulette A. Bethel, permanent representative of Bahamas to the United Nations signed the document here at the UN headquarters in New York.
In their joint statement, the two countries stressed their mutual keenness to promote mutual understanding and strengthening of cooperation in political, economic, social, humanitarian, cultural and scientific fields in conformity with the principles and objectives of the Charter of the United Nations and the norms of international law.
At the end of the signing ceremony, ambassadors discussed ways of enhancing bilateral cooperation and exchanged views on a number of political and economic issues of common concern.
