Doctors Hospital Dr. Meyer Rassin Foundation announced its 2011 scholarship recipients. Recognizing the financial hardships of paying for a college education, The Foundation’s Board of Directors have agreed to invest over $70,000.00 in scholarships and partial scholarships to some outstanding students.
For the past several years, The Dr. Meyer Rassin Foundation has pledged its commitment to ensuring that deserving students have a chance at pursuing and realizing their educational dreams through financial assistance. Scholarships range from $500.00 – $10,000.00 per recipient.
Most of these awards are renewable each year for graduate and undergraduate students. However, the Rassin Foundation requires that all recipients maintain a GPA of 3.0 and higher, provide updated transcripts and school invoices every semester. A written request for continued assistance should also be submitted.
It is well known that rising tuition costs threaten to put college out of reach for many families, therefore “we must find a way to shore up support for higher education in good times and bad” remarked Dr. Judson Eneas, Foundation President. Ms. Shornie Rolle, a recipient thanked the Dr. Meyer Rassin Foundation on behalf of all the recipients, commenting “We truly appreciate the funds and will make every effort maintain good grades and become productive individuals in the world that we live in.”
The Foundation was established in 1999 in honor of the late Dr. Meyer Rassin who serviced the healthcare needs of our community since 1942. The purpose of the Dr. Meyer Rassin Foundation is to positively affect our community by offering financial assistance to students pursuing health professions. The Foundation was created as a philanthropic mechanism through which individuals, trusts, foundations, estates, businesses and other organizations may invest in quality healthcare in The Bahamas. Contributions to The Foundation will help make available the very best in healthcare for you, your family, friends, and neighbours.
