Greenslade Weeding Out Bad Apples

A police sergeant stationed in Grand Bahama was one of the three officers discharged from the Royal Bahamas Police Force (RBPF) last month, The Freeport News has confirmed.

Sergeant 1611 Kirkland Wright was posted at the Prosecutions Department and serving as a police prosecutor in Freeport Magistrates Court 2 when he was removed in 2007 for “misconduct” – around the same time Stipendiary and Circuit Magistrate Subusola Lawson-Swain, who presided over that court, was placed on leave.

He was last posted at the Eight Mile Rock Police Station and, Deputy Commissioner of Police Quinn McCartney confirmed yesterday that Wright was discharged on May 31.

Days after he discharged the three officers, Commissioner of Police Ellison Greenslade told reporters in New Providence that he was forced to do so as the trio’s conduct was “in breach of what is right and decent.”
