The U.S. National Hurricane Center (NHC) said on Friday an elongated area of low pressure across eastern Cuba and the Bahamas has a 20 percent chance of developing into a tropical or a subtropical cyclone over the next 48 hours, down from 20 percent earlier.
Upper-level winds are not favorable for development of the system becoming a tropical or subtropical cyclone during the next 48 hours, the NHC said.
A few computer weather models forecast the system to move northeast toward the Atlantic ocean in the next few days.
