Hands For Hunger officially welcomes Yolanda Darville as its new Executive Director. Most recently the Director of Development with the Queen’s College Foundation and Development Associate at The College of The Bahamas. She offers more than a decade of non-profit management and community relations experience, as well as strategic leadership skills and a strong commitment to volunteerism. An alumnus of James Madison University, graduating Magna Cum Laude with a degree in Public Relations, Mrs. Darville is perfectly prepared to share the mission of Hands For Hunger and the organization’s commitment to eliminating hunger and achieving food security in The Bahamas.
“During this exciting time of growth and change for Hands for Hunger, we could not have asked for a more qualified, devoted and ambitious chief ambassador to welcome to our organization this spring as our new Executive Director. I have every confidence in Yolanda’s ability to be an excellent leader for both Hands For Hungers and the community.,” says Andrew Howard, Vice President of H4H.
Yolanda was welcomed to Hands For Hunger as of March 1, 2011. She replaces Ashley Lepine, who was the founding Executive Director.
“I have had an opportunity to observe from a distance the excellent services that Hands For Hunger has provided to the community through its food rescue program and its education efforts around hunger and food security in The Bahamas,” explains Darville,”I am pleased to be a part of the team and continue to expand the groundwork laid by former executive director Ashley Lepine, the board of directors and Hands For Hunger’s dedicated volunteers.”
Hands For Hunger was started by a group of Bahamian student leaders in early 2008, who were and still are, committed to making a difference in the world. The organization is a registered, not-for-profit charity (# 57211 C) that relies on donations from community groups, foundations, corporations and the general public. They are led by a volunteer Board of Directors and supported by hundreds of dedicated volunteers.
