The Nassau Airport Development Company (NAD) has postponed its planned $2 international security fee increase at the Government’s request, Tribune Business can reveal, the latter believing there was “another way” of financing “considerable” security upgrades.
Vincent Vanderpool-Wallace, minister of tourism and aviation, confirmed to this newspaper that NAD had agreed to “postpone” the fee rise’s implementation to a date yet to be determined, adding that it was possible the increase might not be required at all if the Government’s solution was adopted.
Those requirements relate specifically to the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) mandated regime for Lynden Pindling International Airport’s (LPIA) pre-clearance facility.
