Shavado Simmons, a 20-year-old aspiring photographer, was fatally shot by a robber while at a friend’s apartment off Charles W Saunders highway. The shooting occurred around 3:00pm. The robber shot and killed Shavado but left his friend unharmed.
Family, friends and area residents are shocked and horrified by the incident. Many expressing deep concerns about the frightening level of crime in the country.
Police are investigating and believe that Shavado and his friend may have been followed from the convenience store.
His death has pushed the country’s already alarmingly high murder count to 72 for the year so far.
