Member of Parliament for Marco City Zhivargo Laing lambasted his fellow politicians in the House of Assembly yesterday for not taking their responsibility as elected officials seriously.
Laing said during the debate on the Parliamentary Elections Act that the elected members of parliament were chosen by the people in their respective constituencies to vote for them and represent their interests when important pieces of legislation are being discussed.
However, Laing said he had cause to wonder about the seriousness of some politicians who seem to have little regard for the House of Assembly.
Laing noted that they expend a lot of effort to secure the public’s votes, but when they become their representatives many are late or are no shows in the House of Assembly unless it is their turn to speak.
