Thieving Lawyer Bilked More Clients

Ralph Jan Ward, a former attorney, disbarred in 2009, has admitted to bilking three clients out of $209,000 by keeping money entrusted to him to complete land sales.

Ward appeared before Justice Vera Watkins and has now confessed to misconduct in half of the eight criminal cases he has before the court.

Last week Ward pleaded guilty to stealing $47,500 from a client.

All of the clients were referred to Ward by his sister, Gizelle, after they entered into agreements with her company Tropical Home and Design after they got mortgages from Scotiabank Bahamas Ltd.

Police were called after Ward failed to forward manager’s checks to the vendors.
