FREEPORT, Grand Bahama – Grand Bahama police seized about $1.2 million worth of cocaine at the Freeport Container Port.
According to police, Drug Enforcement Unit were called in to search a container at the port due to a number of irregularities on Thursday around 4pm.
The Drug Enforcement Unit (DEU) found two large black duffle bags containing 61 kilos, or 147.5 pounds of cocaine in the container which had originated from Peru and was destined for Toronto, Canada, police said.
No arrests have been made thus far in connection with the discovery.
24 packages of cocaine with an estimated street value of $600,000 were discovered at the Freeport Container Port in July 2009.
In March of 2008, Grand Bahama police intercepted a container and 150 kilograms of cocaine were discovered with an estimated street value of $4.5 million.
