City Market Continues Downhill Trend

More layoffs could occur at City Market as the owners consider selling the Eight Mile Rock store on Grand Bahama Island.

The company, which is a shadow of its former self, is continuing its downward spiral under the leadership of Mark Finlayson, the man responsible for driving Solomon’s Mines into the ground.

The Tribune reports that Mr Finlayson is tight-lipped on the details but has admitted that the company is holding talks with people interested in buying the Freeport store.

The company recently shuttered two other locations, the Palmdale store and the Lyford Cay store.

Substantial layoffs are expected with the closure of those two locations although the details have not been made public.

Mr Finlayson says the layoffs will be done according to law and that employees will be paid their proper severance pay.

Despite the reality of continuous bad news, Mr Finlayson appears upbeat and always has positive things to say even as his ship is sinking.
