A man was found shot to death near the doorstep of his home early Friday morning.
He was the fourth person murdered this week and the 82nd person murdered this year.
Yovelle Thompson, 23, was shot in the back of his head and in his back, according to police.
Police said they received reports of gunshots in the area of Augusta Street shortly after 2 a.m.
Forty-two percent more murders have been recorded in the first seven months of this year as compared to the same period in 2010.
There have been three murder records over the past four years in The Bahamas and there is likely to be a fourth this year based on the current murder count.
