A dark oily substance floated atop the water and spread several feet across the shore Sunday afternoon on the beach in Pinder’s Point.
On shore were at least two employees from BORCO who were seen dipping a sponge into a bucket and sprinkling some yellowish liquid where the dark greasy liquid had come ashore.
Alarmed at the heightened activity and presence of BORCO employees in the quiet community of Pinder’s Point, residents rushed out to the sea-side anxious to satisfy their curiosity – only to discover what they described as an “oil spill in the water.”
Speaking to a concerned female resident under anonymity, she explained that as usual on a Sunday while taking an afternoon drive she noticed several trucks and employees from BORCO walking along the shoreline with buckets and other equipment.
On closer inspection, she said, “I realized that oil was in the water and floated to the shore and they (BORCO employees) looked as though they were using whatever was in the buckets to clean it up.”
Noting that the odor from the oil was “terrible,” she claimed, “when they are doing their thing through the night the fumes is heavy … I think they believe people are asleep when they do whatever it is they are doing.
