Police have charged the parents of a little boy who died in a car crash with manslaughter by negligence. The child was reportedly being held by his mother when he was thrown from the car in a traffic accident. He was supposed to be in the back seat wearing a seat belt.
Delano Coakley Sr., 25, of Bamboo Street, and Nickessha Missick, 24, of East Street, appeared before Magistrate Carolyn Vogt-Evans regarding the August 24 death of Delano Coakley Jr.
Prosecutors plan to fast-track the case to the Supreme Court by a voluntary bill of indictment on January 26.
Vogt-Evans set bail at $10,000 for each defendant.
