Three young men were shot and killed in three separate incidents the morning after government and religious leaders held a National Day Of Prayer.
The deaths have brought the murder count to an alarming 96 – a new record and there are still more than three months before the year is out. In 2010 there were 94 murders.
A fiurth man was shot in another incident and is currently fighting for his life.
In a Tribune article Assistant Commissioner of Police Hulan Hanna was quoted, “We need to take a look into the soul of this nation and see where we have gone wrong.”
“The violence, bitterness and anger that has developed does not bode well.”
A Nassau Guardian article reported that Hanna said the new murder record speaks to moral decay in the Bahamas.
