On May 16, 2011, Odyssey Aviation Bahamas commenced construction of a new FBO facility at the Exuma International Airport (MYEF). The facility is located on the southeast side of the field and is scheduled for completion in November 2011. Once complete, the 2500 square foot facility will be the first FBO building at Exuma International.
Odyssey Aviation Exuma has been operating out of a rented office adjacent to the main airport terminal since December 2009. An Odyssey professional meets every arriving aircraft, escorts visitors through the airport’s Customs and Immigration area and leads them to their on-island transportation. Pilots are then able to relax in the Odyssey FBO office which offers standard FBO amenities, a pilots’ lounge and refreshment bar.
The new facility will be separate from the main airport terminal and will feature the standard FBO amenities as well as convenient Bahamas Customs and Immigration clearance available inside the facility, a pilots’ lounge and flight planning room, a refreshment bar, a passenger lounge, a private fuel farm, and two acres of adjoining apron for aircraft parking. Steven K. Kelly, President of Odyssey Aviation Bahamas met with a local architectural firm and used his knowledge of the Bahamas and the requirements for an Island FBO facility to design the project. The construction has been managed in house by Odyssey staff that have years of experience in the general construction industry.
