Twenty-six year-old Eric Oneil Strachan was convicted on Wednesday of raping a 70-year-old relative. Sentencing has been set for November 11. Strachan has been remanded to Fox Hill Prison.
Strachan claimed that the sex was consensual but the woman testified as to how she tried to fight him off, thinking she was going to die. Strachan’s mother heard the noises and busted into the room shocked to find her son and elderly relative together naked.
A seven-woman, two-man jury heard testimony from the woman who shook as relayed her ordeal about how Strachan dragged her into the bedroom and raped her. She fought with him until she had no strength left. Strachan claims the woman started fondling him on the couch and that he was tipsy.
The incident is alleged to have taken place at Strachan’s mother’s house in Andros Town, Eight Mile Rock where he and his elderly relative resided on December 10, 2010.
