Colombian pop star Shakira,29, and Roger Waters of Pink Floyd, 63, have collaborated to buy and build up a 700 acre island in the Bahamans called ‘Bonds Cay’. The island cost $16 million.
The 700 acre island is situated north of the Bahamas and 125 miles from Florida. It has five beaches and three bays as well as numerous waterfalls and rocky areas.
In addition to a boutique hotel, luxury condominiums and homes with private beaches, the island will house an artists’ retreat.
There will be a rotating cast of artists-in-residence, galleries populated with up-and-comers’ works and a program that offers semester-long sabbaticals.
Spanish singers Alejandro Sanz and Miguel Bose have acquired land on the new island, and are expected to build mansions there next year.
