You’d think a country with 700 islands and cays and hundreds of white sand beaches would have fared pretty well in a contest to name the 25 best beaches in the world.
Think again.
While beaches in the Turks and Caicos, Grand Cayman, the Phillipines and even Florida, were voted in, there was not even one Bahamas beach on the list of the top 25.
All of the beaches that were listed have unique characteristics, where nearly every beach in The Bahamas looks pretty much the same. Apparently, stark beaches with little more than sand and a few scrubby bushes don’t make the grade.
In fact, sad but true, no Bahamas beach was even named in the Top 10 Beaches in The Caribbean and Mexico. The top spot in that category went to Providenciales, in the Turks & Caicos.
The Bahamas also missed the mark for the Top 25 Hotels in The World. Amazing hotels from around the world were named with the top spot going to the Golden Well in Prague, in the Czech Republic. If service was part of the equation, it is no surprise that The Bahamas missed out.
WhenTrip Advisor asked travelers to name the Top 25 Best Vacation Destinations in The World, the Bahamas was conspicuously absent from that list as well. Cape Town, South Africa, was at the top of that list, which inlcuded places like New York, London, Paris, Venice, Honolulu and other heavyweights in the travel industry. The only destination in the caribbean that could compete was Grand Cayman.
But things turned around when travelers were asked to name the 10 Best Family Vacation Destinations in The Caribbean and Mexico.
Paradise Island, The Bahamas, was the top choice with the Atlantis Resort being the main attraction.
