In a surprising move, City Markets has reopened their store at the Sea Grapes shopping centre, months ahead of schedule.
The South Beach location may follow within the next week to ten days.
This is the first good news for City Markets in a long time, as the company has been working through some very difficult times while racking up substantial losses.
Vice-President Nikki Finlayson-Boeuf spearheaded the renovations at the Sea Grapes location, which cost an estimated $500,000.
The store was not expected to open until just before Christmas. 60 employees have been called back to work.
The reopened store now features a pharmacy area, allowing for quicker checkout for those with only a few items. Also, the produce area has been expanded.
Most importantly, the faulty refrigeration units have been dealt with.
The store has cut its 24-hour schedule to a 7:00am – 11:00pm opening time.
Finlayson-Boeuf invites customers to visit the renovated store and welcomes feedback.
