The gruesome remains of the partially decomposed body of a baby boy were discovered as the surrounding community was preparing for Discovery Day celebrations.
The mother of the boy was in hospital recovering from surgery, where she is being questioned by police. She is apparently in her late 20’s.
A relative of the mother found the dead baby Friday, in a trash bucket in the bathroom of a home on McQuay Street, off Nassau Street.
It is not yet known under what circumstances the baby boy died.
However, Bahamian law states that all births are to be recorded.
