2011 Fash|Art fashion showcase has announced the names of 16 emerging fashion designers and visual artists who will be participating in the inaugural event which aims to blend fashion and art.
Event organisers have put out a model casting call, seeking 10 female models and six male models to be cast for the fashion show on November 5 at Doongalik Studios. The show will feature the creations of eight designers. One of the models will be chosen as the face of Fash|Art 2012, winning a one-year contract with the PTG Modeling Agency.
The high fashion runway presentation and competition will showcase a variety of styles in ready-to-wear, couture and swimwear. A silent panel of fashion experts will select the winning collection.
The event’s producer Kedar Clarke said Fash|Art aims to be the premier platform for unknown and emerging artists and designers around The Bahamas.
Visual artists will showcase three works during an art exhibition of photography, sculpture, ceramics art, painting, drawings and computer generated art. The winning piece will be based on originality, elements of art, degree of difficulty and presentation and skill.
“Winners in the categories of fashion and art will receive awards that pay homage to the late Harl Taylor and Jackson Burnside, both of whom have become synonymous with their talents, which made them highly respected worldwide. Additionally, winners will take a $500 monetary grant, an HP Touch Pad courtesy of Custom Computers and other career launching incentives,” said organisers.
Trade show vendors will have the opportunity to sell and promote their work during a trunk show and cocktail reception dubbed “The Style Lounge”.
