The father of a 25-year-old man shot by police last Saturday morning is asking for an independent investigation as to why officers shot his son seven times.
Police reported that they received a call that a man was seen armed on Sisal Road in
Police said they saw the suspect – who matched the description of the armed man – acting suspiciously and when they approached, he pointed a gun at officers. The officers then fired on the suspect, police said.
However, the father disputed the official version of events as described by police.
He said his son was shot under the chin, once in each arm, twice in his midsection and once in each thigh. The father argued that that level of force was unnecessary.
The suspect remains in hospital in stable condition.
