Police were able to wound and capture one of the three men involved in Saturday’s armed robbery of Burger King on West Bay Street. Two other robbers got away.
The robbery took place around 6:00pm on Saturday at the Burger King across from Sandals Resort on West Bay Street. It is not known if tourists were in the restuarant at the time.
Police responded quickly and caught up with the robbers who were trying to escape in a beige Toyota Corolla heading east on Tonique Williams-Darling Highway.
The supsects led police on a high-speed car chase through Western New Providecne before they crashed into another vehicle at the intersection of Tonique Williams-Darling Highway and Sir Milo Butler Drive.
As police approached the vehicle, the suspects started shooting. Police responded with gunfire and wounded one of the suspects, the driver of the car, in the abdomen. The other two somehow managed to escape.
In the car, police found a high-powered weapon, ammunition and cash, believed to be from Burger King.
No officers were injured in the incident and the two men who escpaped are being sought by police.
