The latest cruise ship to call Central Florida home means millions of dollars for the struggling Space Coast.
The Carnival Ecstasy arrived at Port Canaveral early Thursday morning, becoming the seventh year-round cruise ship to be based out of the port.
Carnival Cruise Line said the Ecstasy will embark on four- and five-day cruises to the Bahamas, including Nassau, Freeport and the private island of Half Moon Cay.
The Ecstasy joins the Carnival Dream and Sensation cruise ships at Port Canaveral, making Carnival the largest cruise line based out of Brevard County.
Carnival has 78 cruises scheduled this year. Between the Ecstasy, the Dream and the Sensation, the cruise line is expected to bring 600,000 guests to Central Florida annually.
