Carnival Ecstatic About Port Canaveral

Carnival EcstasyNo sooner had Carnival based a third cruise ship at Port Canaveral than it is talking about the potential for a fourth ship.

Not only would that increase options for tourists, but another ship like the Carnival Ecstasy, which started service last week at the port, could bring hundreds of jobs and a $50 million-a-year economic impact to the region.

Carnival official Rob Huffman Jr. said his Miami-based company is selling out its cruises from Port Canaveral.

Canaveral Port Authority Chief Executive Officer J. Stanley Payne said he is pleased by Carnival’s strong presence here. He likes the prospect for either a fourth Carnival ship based at Port Canaveral, or Carnival switching out one of its current ships for a larger one.Carnival’s Port Canaveral-based ships include the Ecstasy, with four- and five-day cruises to the Bahamas; its sister ship, the Sensation, with three- and four-day Bahamas cruises; and the larger Dream, with seven-day eastern and western Caribbean cruises.
