Direct Air has canceled flights to the Bahamas and Puerto Rico, routes that it was supposed to start flying out of Worcester Regional Airport this month. Both routes are rescheduled to launch in May 2012, according to a Direct Air spokeswoman.
Worcester Regional Airport Director Andrew B. Davis said yesterday that Direct Air informed Massport, the owner of the airport, that the company had canceled all flights to Nassau, Bahamas, and San Juan, Puerto Rico.
“Massport has conveyed its extreme concern to Direct Air over the carrier’s treatment of its passengers at Worcester Regional Airport, specifically those customers who had purchased tickets to fly to San Juan this winter,” Mr. Davis said yesterday. He said the airport had heard from three customers who were irate that their flights had been canceled.
