Magistrate Carolita Bethel sent the religious charlatan Randy Fraser to jail for three years after finding him guilty of having sexual intercourse with a minor.
The man who shamefully called himself a bishop spent the first night of his three-year sentence in Fox Hill Prison last night after he was convicted of having sexual intercourse with a minor in 2005. With time off for good behavior, Fraser will serve two years.
Fraser, who was stunned by the verdict, was led from the courtroom in handcuffs to the cheers and jeers of the crowd outside on Bank Lane.
The sex offender’s wife, Jacqueline, who committed perjury in an attempt to keep her husband out of jail, was seen sobbing and carrying on after the ruling. There was no pity from the crowd.
The trial, which took three years to complete, was a circus-like mockery of justice with judicial flip-flops and dozens of postponements for ridiculous reasons with defence lawyers using a variety of stalling tactics.
Fraser was the pastor of the Pilgrim Full Baptist Temple and was supposed to be counseling a teenage girl in his congregation who had issues with her mother. Instead, heĀ repeatedly had sex with the teen.
The victim testified that the bishop told her that no one would believe her and that he “knew people in high places”.
Fraser had arrived at the court smiling but the magistrate’s ruling wiped the smile from his face.
Fraser was previously arrested on the same charges in 2006, but was discharged by Magistrate Marilyn Meeres who ruled there was no physical evidence to link Fraser to the charges.
The Court of Appeal overruled Meeres’ ruling and ordered a retrial.
