Nassau, Bahamas – The Ministry of Public Works and Transport announced that as of Friday, November 4, 2011 the road closure on Prince Charles Drive between Beatrice Avenue and Garden Road will be extended to Wilson Way (the corner near Kentucky Fried Chicken). Motorists are advised to follow the diversion signs that are posted.
On Saturday, November 5, 2011 the junction of Baillou Hill/Wulff Roads, along with Baillou Hill Road between Baker Street and the Wulff Road junction will be closed to allow final asphalt paving works. Motorists should follow the diversion signs. This closure is expected to last for one day.
The Ministry advises that as scheduled, the contractor has laid the final asphalt layer on Baillou Hill Road between Wulff Road and Brougham Street. This section of road has now been re-opened to traffic. The public is reminded that following construction on Baillou Road, motorists are only allowed to travel in a NORTHBOUND DIRECTION.
The junction at Palm Tree Avenue/Market Street is being closed to allow for excavation and paving works. The paving and re-opening of this junction has been delayed due to rain. Excavation works, however, have been completed. The junction is scheduled to reopen shortly. Motorists are asked to use Coconut Grove Avenue or Poinciana Ave. as an alternative.
Market Street is closed between Wulff Road and Brougham Street. Motorists should use East Street as an alternative route.
The eastbound lane of Robinson Road between Baillou Hill Road and First Street is closed to allow the installation of underground utilities at the junction of First Street and Robinson Road. Eastbound traffic should use Coconut Grove Avenue as an alternative route. It is anticipated that this closure will last for 5 to 7 days.
Motorists and residents are reminded and encouraged to phone the Ministry to report potholes that have developed throughout the island so that these potholes can be patched. Call the Ministry’s hotline number at 302-9700 between 9:00 am – 5:00 p.m.
As road works continue, the Ministry thanks motorists for their patience and cooperation and encourages residents to support the businesses that fall within these areas.
