Nassau, Bahamas — The Ministry of Public Works and Transport advises that as of Monday, October 31, the eastbound lane of Robinson Road between Baillou Hill Road and First Street is closed to allow the installation of underground utilities at the junction of First Street and Robinson Road.
Eastbound traffic should use Coconut Grove Avenue as an alternative route. It is anticipated that this closure will last five to seven days.
As scheduled, the Contractor laid the final asphalt layer on Baillou Hill Road between Wulff Road and Brougham Street over the weekend.
This section of the road is now re-opened to traffic. The public is reminded that following construction on Baillou Road, once traffic is allowed, motorists are only allowed to travel north in a NORTHBOUND DIRECTION.
Market Street is closed between Wulff Road and Brougham Street. Motorists should use East Street as an alternative route.
The junction at Palm Tree Avenue/Market Street has been closed to allow for excavation and paving works.
The re-opening of this junction has been delayed. Excavation works have been completed but due to inclement weather paving works are still pending. The junction, however, is scheduled to reopen shortly. Motorists are asked to use Coconut Grove or Poinciana Avenue as an alternative.
Motorists and residents are reminded and encouraged to phone the Ministry to report locations of potholes that have developed throughout the island due to frequent rain. The Ministry’s hotline is 302-9700 between 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
The Ministry thanks motorists for their patience and cooperation as the project continues. Furthermore, the Ministry continues to encourage residents to support businesses that fall within the affected corridors.
