Opposition MP for Elizabeth Ryan Pinder dismissed reports he was contemplating leaving his seat in favour of a “safer” constituency in which to run in the lead-up to the 2012 general elections.
Speaking exclusively with The Tribune at the House of Assembly yesterday, Mr Pinder said he fully intends to be the representative for Elizabeth after 2012 having served “the good people” of that constituency effectively for the past 18 months.
“I was elected to represent the good people of Elizabeth. I am very content. Over the past 18 months or so as the Member of Parliament for Elizabeth I have advocated and represented the people of the constituency of Elizabeth, both in the House of Assembly and in the community, to the best of my ability and I would venture to say that the residents of Elizabeth say they have not had such an effective and caring representative for their interests since my father represented their interests in 1987.”
