Authorities said a Texas man, who had been accused of killing his wife, apparently fatally shot himself in the chest aboard a boat he had stolen while fleeing to his native Cuba, the South Florida Sun Sentinel reported.
Authorities said Noel Sosa-Ruiz shot himself on Saturday off of Cay Sal Island in the Bahamas as a Coast Guard vessel came to help him because they thought he was a boater in distress.
On Friday, authorities were alerted that Sosa-Ruiz had stolen a 21-foot Mako center console boat from behind a home in Key Largo. The boat owners said their friend, Sosa-Ruiz, took the boat and left behind a van, which his sister had loaned him two weeks ago, and a note, which wrote he had to leave due to a “death warrant,” the Sentinel reported.
