BOB and the Kiwanis Club of Nassau AM have launched a special Christmas appeal aiming to bring holiday cheer to youngsters in Bain and Grants Town. The appeal that began earlier this week invites the public to bring in toys to any BOB location in New Providence. The toys should be unwrapped and suitable for children aged 12 years and younger. Toys will be wrapped and delivered to children on Christmas morning by Kiwanis’ Santa.
“It is a tragedy that that scores of children in many communities of our island will not have a single gift to open this Christmas,” said Natila Saunders, of Kiwanis Club of Nassau A.M. “We are determined to change this and to ensure that the children in the Bain and Grants Town communities have at least one present from Santa this Christmas.”
The public is urged to participate by bringing appropriate toys to any of BOB’s branches between the hours of 9:30 am and 3:00 pm Mondays through Friday and at the Harrold Road and Village Road branches on Saturdays between 9:30 am and 1:00 pm. The appeal will continue over the next two weeks ending on Wednesday, December 21.
“It has been a very difficult year for many families,” said Michael Basden, Marketing Manager of BOB. “The downturn in our economy that has resulted in widespread jobs losses have left many breadwinners in a position of having to decide between household essentials or gifts, so we are delighted to partner with Kiwanis in this appeal.
The Toys for Tots holiday toy drive is one of many outreach programs in which BOB has partnered with civic organizations, agencies, companies and individuals to increase literacy, contribute to youth development, support law enforcement or boost health and well-being initiatives. Staff members at all of the branches of the award-winning bank also dedicate countless hours to the causes that touch their hearts and the lives of others.
