Members of Parliament from the governing Free National Movement (FNM) are hitting back at three Progressive Liberal Party (PLP) candidates for attempting to gain political mileage from the terminations at the Hutchison Whampoa Group of Companies Wednesday.
“We the Free National Movement Parliamentarians, greatly regret that the Progressive Liberal Party has shamelessly shown such contempt and insensitivity toward the displaced workers of the Hutchison Whampoa Group of Companies by attempting to use this, trying situation for these employees, to score cheap political points,” they said in a prepared statement.
Members of Parliament Zhivargo Laing, Kwasi Thompson, Neko Grant and senator David Thompson addressed criticisms levied against the FNM that it was slow to respond to the terminations at a press conference at the Office of the Prime Minister yesterday afternoon.
