Hundreds of children in the Bain & Grants Town communities were smiling from ear-to-ear on Christmas morning as Kiwanians along with several volunteers distributed toys, candies and food items collected through the Toys for Tots drive hosted by Bank of The Bahamas and the Kiwanis Club of Nassau AM.
“We were very pleased with the response from the public as many of the boxes placed in each of our New Providence branches were filled to overflowing with brand new, age appropriate toys,” shared Michael Basden, Marketing Manager BOB. “Even in these challenging economic times, BOB customers and staff gave generously, wanting to bring cheer to the children of Bain & Grant’s Town on Christmas morning.”
Kiwanians and volunteers ventured to homes in Bain Town and the surrounding areas of East Street including Masons Addition and Toote Shop Corner, loaded with dolls, trucks, board games, books, tennis rackets and other toys to brighten up a youngster’s holiday.
“Bank of The Bahamas played a major role in the collection efforts and we are incredibly appreciative of their partnership,” said Natila Saunders, Director and Young Children Priority One Chairperson of the Kiwanis Club of Nassau AM. “The children and their parents were thrilled to receive the unexpected Christmas treats, but it was the Kiwanians who were even more thrilled to have had the opportunity to bring joy to the lives of some of our less fortunate brothers and sisters on Christmas Day.”
The Toys for Tots Drive is one of many outreach programs in which BOB has partnered with civic organizations, agencies, companies and individuals to increase literacy, contribute to youth development, support law enforcement or boost health and well-being initiatives. Staff members at all of the branches of the award-winning bank also dedicate countless hours to the causes that touch their hearts and the lives of others.
“This was even more fun than any of us anticipated and we are looking forward to next year’s toy drive,” beamed Ms. Saunders.
