A Supreme Court judge has imposed a 52-year sentence on convicted killer Max Tido, for the brutal, gruesome murder of 16-year-old Donell Conover.
Tido was sentenced to death in 2006 but the Privy Council ruled that the mandatory death penalty was unconstitutional.
A jury convicted Tido, whose street name is “Scum”, in March 2006. He spent fiveĀ ears in jail before the Privy Council overturned his death sentence saying his crime could not be categorized as the “worst of the worst”.
Donell Conover’s battered body was found in a quarry pit, she had sustained severe head injury either from having been bludgeoned or by a car driving over her head. Her body had also been burned.
Tido has a history of “chronic anti-social behaviour” and continues to flout prison rules. He maintains his innocence and shows no remorse.
