BTC would like to publicly acknowledge comments attributed to Cynthia ‘Mother’ Pratt, MP for St. Cecilia, today regarding the installation of a BTC cell tower in her constituency’s community park.
BTC fully appreciates Mother Pratt’s concern and acknowledges that it had not appropriately engaged community leaders and residents to advise them of proposed plans and invite discussion. Going forward, the company wishes to assure the public that proper procedures are now in place to make certain there is opportunity for public dialogue in instances where proposed construction sites are located at or near sensitive areas.
The company’s CEO Geoff Houston personally wrote to Mother Pratt today, apologising for the lack of community dialogue and providing assurance of full restoration to the park. Several BTC team members also communicated with the MP to fully explain the construction activity and the importance of improving cellular quality in the area. BTC has assured Mother Pratt the tower will be sufficiently secured to maintain safety for youngsters and residents using the park.
