The Ministry of the Environment will be celebrating Earth Day on April 22, 2012, with the theme “Mobilise the Earth.”
During this time the Ministry will be contributing to the “Billion Acts of Green” to give The Bahamas a focused and tangible approach to sustaining our environment for the future.
Activities planned for the period:
Planting of mosquito repellant shrubs:
Wednesday, April 18, 2012 at 1:00pm at Government House. Planting shrubs such as Rosemary, Marigolds and Citronella, a species in collaboration with the Bahamas National Pride.
10 a.m. Bain Town 1 p.m. Gambier:
Planting of community Orchards by the Minister and Minister of State for the Envirtonment , the Hon. Earl D. Deveaux and the Hon. Phenton O. Neymour in collaboration with the Bahamas National Pride. (Directions: Bain Town — Hospital Lanedirectly north of Sarah Ingraham Park; Gambier — go to the main entrance heading south past the clinic and basketball court, property next to white and green house on the right).
22 April, 2012 Sermons and church bulletins of the local and Family Island churches will contain information on Earth Day and tips Bahamians can use to be more environmentally friendly toward the earth.
