Montagu Vendors – Pictured are some of the fish vendors tending their wares at the upgraded Montagu foreshore. The vendors are benefitting from the Montagu Foreshore Redevelopment Project, a partnership between the Bahamas Government and Kerzner International which includes a paved parking area, a boat ramp, vending stalls, public parking and trailer spaces along with restroom facilities.
Parking area at Montagu
The photo shows a recently paved parking area for customers who patronise fish, fruit and vegetable vendors at Montagu.
This joint project of the Government and Kerzner International will provide 20 public parking spaces and 14 boat trailer spaces along with a new entry and exit.
Restrooms at Montagu
Two toilet blocks are under construction at the east and west ends of Montagu. The restroom facilities are a part of the Montagu Foreshore Redevelopment Project sponsored by Kerzner International and the Bahamas Government. The photo shows the toilet block being built at the eastern end of Montagu.
Eastern Road
The top layer of asphalt on this section of the Eastern Road near Blair Estates has been removed and a new layer asphalt surface will replace it soon. Intersection improvements are being carried out in this area and at the intersection of the Eastern and Johnson Roads that will provide a third lane for motorists. A concrete island is also being added at this intersection.
Final paving on Marathon Road
Motorists in this photograph enjoy a smooth ride after the final layer of asphalt was added on Marathon Road between Kentucky Fried Chicken and the intersection of Marathon and Robinson Roads. The work is a part of the Government’s New Providence Infrastructure and Improvement Project.
