In the past two days, between Monday night and Wednesday five murders have occurred. Three young men were gunned down in drive-by shootings in three separate incidents, although the police suspect the murders may be related.
Additionally, a mother and son were killed on Monday evening in the Chippingham area – these were the first murders to occur after the general election.
On Wednesday around 12:30 a 28-year-old man was shot in the Kemp Road area. A second shooting occurred on Wednesday around 3pm in Pinewood Gardens. A third man was shot and killed just after midnight.
This recent whirlwind of murder has pushed the homicide count for the country to 50 for the year.
The newly elected Christie administration has promised a “rapid response” in the bloody aftermath.
