The official results of Monday’s general election show that the Progressive Liberal Party (PLP) won 29 seats in the House of Assembly and the Free National Movement (FNM) will occupy the remaining nine.
Parliamentary Commissioner Errol Bethel told reporters during a news conference this morning that officials from the Parliamentary Registration Department were still recounting ballots up to two o’clock this morning.
Therefore, it’s still unclear just how many of the 172,000 people who registered to vote actually cast ballots.
But Bethel estimates that more than 80 percent of registered voters marked their ‘x’ on Monday and in last week’s advance poll.
Up to last night, it still wasn’t clear who had won in the North Andros and Berry Islands constituency and in Central and South Eleuthera.
